($38.25 Wine Club price)
Our Single Block 'Vineyard Series' Hutton Vale Farm Grenache from the cool and late 2023 vintage comes from historic Hutton Vale Farm in the Eden Valley. Very Old Vines grown on a property that has been in the Angas family since South Australian settlement in the 1830s. The Vineyard is dry grown and very low yielding, but the resulting wines provide a unique insight into this wonderful vineyard.
Very old vine Eden Valley Grenache carries a distinctive lift and lightness on its feet, the cool climate coupled with very harsh growing conditions produces special wines. The wine is highly perfumed, light bodied. Beautifully balanced, red fruits, fine tannin and acid, all in balance. Wonderful grenache.

2023 HUTTON VALE FARM GRENACHE
GROWING SEASON
The 2023 Eden Valley Vintage will be remembered as one of the latest vintages in recent memory. After a wet winter the rains continued well into November, it was certainly unlike any other. This meant the growing season was off to a slow start. The season from this point on was almost perfect. Warmer than the 2022 vintage, but cooler than the long term average. A vintage that will have a split personality, the great vineyards with the best growers truly excelled; the best wines will be up there with the best we have ever produced.
TASTING NOTE
Hutton Vale Farm holds a unique place in the history of South Australia. The Angas family have been custodians of this land for almost 200 years. The old vine grenache has a flavour profile, a lightness and brightness that we rarely see on the valley floor. Low cropping, light, delicate, but has a fine lengthy pallet that will surprise even the most seasoned drinker. A modern style, without ever trying to do so.
