2023 Estate Field Blend Blanc Block 12

$45.00
Only 41 available

($38.25 Wine Club price)

From our new micro block of rhone white varietals, Grenache Blanc, Clairette and Marsanne grown on our Certified Organic Estate Vineyard in Stone Well in the Western Barossa Valley. This block of a mere 400 vines performed extremely well in quality terms in the cool but excellent 2023 vintage, but the crop was tiny, just a few 100 kilos resulting in less than 120 bottles.

This wine is bright, lifted florals, stone fruits, light bodied with racy acidity. Light in alcohol and all the better for it. A wine that is drinking very well on release and a perfect match for seafood dishes.

2023 ESTATE FIELD BLEND BLANC BLOCK 12

GROWING SEASON
The 2023 Barossa Valley vintage will be remembered as one of the latest vintages in recent memory. After a wet winter the rains continued well into November, it was certainly unlike any other. This meant the growing season was off to a slow start. The Barossa season from this point on was almost perfect. Warmer than the 2022 vintage, but cooler than the long term average. A vintage that will have a split personality, the great vineyards with the best growers truly excelled; the best wines will be up there with the best we have ever produced. Characterised by the wonderful fruit expression seen in the 2021 vintage combined with the crisp acids seen in the 2022 vintage.

TASTING NOTE
From our micro block of rhone white varietals, Grenache Blanc, Clairette and Marsanne grown on our Certified Organic Estate Vineyard in Stone Well in the western Barossa Valley. This block of a mere 400 vines produced a tiny crop in the cool 2023 vintage, but the quality was high and we picked and fermented all 3 varieties together. Intriguing to say the least. This wine is bright, lifted florals, stone fruits, light bodied with racy acidity. Light in alcohol and all the better for it. A wine that is drinking very well on release and a perfect match for seafood dishes.

2021 Estate Grenache Blanc

Vintage Journal (Andrew Caillard)

92 Points - A typically shy Grenache Blanc but does have good aromatic complexity with its layers of grapefruit, honey and straw aromas in a bright and clean style. Dry, crisp and textural, there is an appealing creamy texture and impact thanks to fine, bright acidity, which drives a finish of good length.

2023 James Halliday Wine Companion (Dave Brookes)

92 Points - I'm a fan of grenache blanc, so was chuffed to see this release roll past my schnoz. Pale straw in the glass with characters of citrus, nashi pear and white peach fruits with hints of marzipan, soft spice, crushed stone, almond blossom and lighter tones of dried herbs. Savoury and stony in the mouth, there's a slight slinky phenolic tweak, a nice minerally acid cadence and a waft of quartz and herbs on the dry finish.
