2023 Fromm Vineyard Grenache
($38.25 Wine Club price)
The 2023 Fromm Grenache was sourced from the very old Fromm vineyard in Williamstown, in the Southern Barossa Valley. 100 % Old vine Grenache from the cool and late ripening 2023 vintage. Farmed by the Fromm’s for over 100 years, it is an isolated place that produces special grapes year in year out.
Hand picked, the fruit was de-stemmed before being transferred to our small fermenters. Once dry, the wine was transferred into seasoned French oak puncheons for maturation prior to being bottled in late 2023.
A ‘modern’ style of grenache, lifted red fruits dominate the nose, medium weight, fresh and bright. A lovely wine now but could be cellared for a few years should you desire.

2023 FROMM VINEYARD GRENACHE
GROWING SEASON
The 2022 Barossa Valley vintage will be remembered as the second almost faultless season in a row after an equally impressive although different 2021 vintage. Both Vintages were cool, the coolest since 2002. Good spring rains meant that we entered the growing season with good soil moisture levels. A warm dry growing season followed, with balanced and healthy canopies producing an average crop of extremely high quality fruit. A pigeon pair, perhaps the best two since 1990/1991 if not longer. The good news is that flavours and colours (in reds) and the vibrancy and lift in the whites are incredible. Overall quality is exceptional. Another extremely good Barossa vintage in the making.

2021 Fromm Vineyard Grenache
2023 James Halliday Wine Companion (Dave Brookes)
95 Points - Grenache sourced from the Fromm family vineyard in Williamstown at the southern extremity of the Barossa Valley. Bright red-purple hue. Pure and endearing, with gorgeous red cherry, satsuma plum and cranberry fruit notes, Asian five-spice, red licorice, gingerbread and purple floral high tones. Savoury and moreish with a lovely fruit weight and flow, tannins just right, acidity providing the cadence and a spicy, plummy finish of some length.
Andrew Caillard MW (The Vintage Journal)
92 Points - Medium crimson in colour and immediately approachable with fresh musky plum, herb garden aromas and flavours. Smooth and round with plentiful juicy fruit notes, it is a good example of the slurpy, early drinking grenache style.
