2021 Hutton Vale Farm Shiraz
($59.50 Wine Club price)
Our Single Block 'Vineyard Series' Hutton Vale Shiraz from the wonderful 2021 vintage comes from historic Hutton Vale Farm in the Eden Valley. Very Old Vines that have been in the Angas family since settlement in the 1830s. The Vineyard is dry grown and very low yielding, but the resulting wines have been proven to stand the test of time. A classic wine in the making.
The wine has all the hallmarks of a Eden Valley Shiraz dry grown in the harsh landscape of the Eden Valley - bright purple red hue, powerful black and blue fruits, full bodied, the dense fruit balanced by abundant natural tannins. This wine is just a baby and shows quite a significant oak influence and tannic grip at this early stage. It is clearly at the start of a very long journey. Cellar!

2021 HUTTON VALE FARM SHIRAZ
GROWING SEASON
The 2021 Barossa Valley vintage will be remembered as an almost faultless season after the challenging years that preceded it. Good spring rains meant that for the first time in many years we entered the growing season with good soil moisture levels. A warm dry growing season followed, with balanced and healthy canopies producing an average crop of extremely high quality fruit. Certainly the best in a decade, maybe longer. The good news is that flavours and colours (in reds) and overall quality is exceptional. A truly great Barossa vintage in the making.

New french oak barrels show there contribution, but this will soften with cellar time. Cellar!

2022 Vineyard Series Hutton Vale Farm Shiraz
Real Review - Stuart Knox
94 Points Ink black core, deep purple at the rim. Blood plum, bresaola and vanilla pod aromas. Deep and dense, dried blood and ironstone notes sit at the core over ripe blue fruits. Firm tannins add to the sense of savoury here, a hint of charry wood fills in towards the very long and drying finish 14 FEB 2024

Wine Companion - Dave Brookes
93 Points - I lived on Hutton Vale Farm for nine years, and our old hound Dudley (RIP) would have walked down these vine rows more than a few times. The fruit from the vineyard is much sought after. It's old, and the wines tend to have great length of flavour and a sense of graceful power. Plum and black fruits, spice, sage, licorice, chocolate, panforte, mocha oak and earth, finishing harmoniously, with fine, tight tannin and an elegant line.
