Wine, Natural Wine, What is in it anyway?

Our Wines are Natural

People are noticeably taking more interest in what food and drinks they consume. Wine, like any other drink, has its positives and negatives but unlike most foods there is no requirement to declare the additives that are included in the winemaking process. There are standards that specify what needs to be declared on the wine label including percentage alcohol, the addition of sulphur and the number of standard drinks. But the unknown is a cause for concern for many. In most cases, wines are a natural product made the way you would expect, but clearly there are exceptions.

Natural Wine is a big buzz at present, but what is it? Firstly, there is no legally accepted definition of natural wine, but most people would suggest that the grapes have been grown organically or biodynamically, they are made with naturally occurring yeast, minimal sulphur additions, and perhaps things like not being fined, filtered but much of this is pretty standard across the industry.

For our Red Wines, we do not add Tannin and we do not add Sugar and as all of our still wines are fermented dry, they are essentially are sugar free (less than .015g per glass). They are vegan friendly, paleo friendly and are relatively light on sulphur (sulphur is produced naturally in the winemaking process). We do reserve the right to add acid if it is assessed as needed during the winemaking process (typically in warm to hot vintages), some years none is added.

We make our wines to be enjoyed now and for the future. Our primary goal is to create the best possible product for our customers in any particular vintage year.
