Hayes Family Wines - Women in Wine
International Women’s Day
Today, 8 March, is International Women's Day and we’re celebrating.
This global initiative was created to celebrate and highlight the social, economic, cultural and political achievements of women. The Wine Industry is very fortunate to have so many woman making an incredible impact in the vineyards, wineries, cellar doors and on the road. It was not always that way, but it is today, and the industry is so much better for it!
Our Women in Wine
At Hayes Family Wines, we have some wonderful women keeping our vineyards, winery and operations running the way they should.
Kylie runs the finance and operations for us. As she would surely point out, it is not an easy task. We do not make it easy for her, but we and you would be lost without her!
Mandy looks after our vineyards, and what a job she does!
Mandy Mader - Barossa Viticulturalist of the Year 2022.
Mandy has had a very colourful career over the past 27 years working in the wine industry (Viticulture). She grew up in the Adelaide Hills and moved to the Barossa with her family as a teenager, then left home to study at University. She came back to the Barossa and met a wine grape grower, Mark Mader, and she has not looked back. After years with Treasury Wine Estates and Yalumba, she now supports many of the smaller growers across the valley in a consulting role.
For Hayes Family Wines, she oversees our vineyard throughout the year, prunes the vineyard by hand during winter (often very chilly!), and is a great companion for a drink or dinner. A wonderful lady, and an absolute legend in the vineyard.
In 2022, she was selected as the Barossa Viticulturalist of the Year. This was a great recognition for a quarter of a century contribution.
