The Barossa Community makes the Valley Stonger

North Stradbroke Island Golf Course

Community

Barossa Valley

When Kylie and I chose to start our brand, buy vineyard and build a winery and life, the Barossa Valley was a perfect choice. Yes, great grapes are grown here, great wines are made but the community is at the heart of what makes this place so great.

Nuri Oval, home of the Tigers

Nuri Tigers and the schulz’s

The Nuri Tigers have been a very successful football, cricket and netball club over the years and the Schulz’s have been a part of this. Marcus won a premiership in the 60s and Grandsons Mitchell has won a few as well, and Josh is now president. I love a day at the footy, there is something special about country footy, and we love being a small part of it.

Charity support

Times are tough, and there are plenty of charities that require our support. We have supported many over the years as they touch our lives. A bottle of wine here, a large format there, or an experience that can raise much needed funds.

SoireE for a Cure

Our good friend, Daren Armstrong, has literally raised millions for Tour de Cure and cancer research over the years. Each year, together with Daren, we make a special wine, that we sell on behalf of Tour de Cure with the proceeds going to the charity.

In addition, along with a number of other Barossa winemakers, we travel to Brisbane each year to support the Soiree for a Cure black tie event. We have a great time, as do all those in attendance. The money raised goes to cancer research organisations and we are very happy to be a small part of it.

Community support further afield

A great friend of mine, is the secretary of the Stradbroke Island Golf Course. Located off the coast of Brisbane, this island has been a residential and holiday paradise for locals for years. And they have a great golf course, built on sand of course, which is an experience not to be missed. And the local restaurant, Bistro Seymour, is fabulous. The course and its associated businesses play an important role on the island, and we love it.
